The NSWA’s 30th Annual Writing Contest runs January 15, 2026-March 15 (11:59 pm), 2026!
Writers living in Canada are invited to submit original, unpublished works in fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and writing for children and young writers 18 and under. Winning entries will be published in the NSWA’s digital literary anthology, Rivulets, on the NSWA website. Winners and runners-up will be notified in early April and announced during the North Shore Writers Festival April 10 and 11. See detailed submission requirements below.

ANNOUNCING OUR 2026 JUDGES!
The 2026 judges of the NSWA’s 30th Annual Writing Contest bring decades of authorial, editing and teaching experience to their volunteer task. Judging fiction will be Lisa Brideau, while poetry will be judged by Calvin Wharton and nonfiction entries will be evaluated by Tara McGuire.
