The NSWA’s 30th Annual Writing Contest closed March 15, 2026

Writers living in Canada submitted 123 original, unpublished works in fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. Winning entries will be published in the NSWA’s digital literary anthology, Rivulets, on the NSWA website. Winners and runners-up were notified in early April and announced during the North Shore Writers Festival April 11.

We are so grateful to the 2026 judges of the NSWA’s 30th Annual Writing Contest for the decades of authorial, editing and teaching experience they brought to their task! Judging fiction was Lisa Brideau, while poetry was judged by Calvin Wharton and nonfiction entries were evaluated by Tara McGuire.
