The 2026 fiction judge will be Lisa Brideau

Lisa Brideau was born and raised in Nova Scotia but now lives and works as a climate policy specialist in Vancouver. Her life and work are engrossed with the study of storytelling and climate change, and critical interrogations of near-future climate possibilities. Her writing is inspired by the ridiculous quantities of science fiction she read during her formative years with a crust of CanLit layered on top.

Lisa’s debut novel, Adrift, was the winner of the 2024 Evergreen Award and a finalist for the Strand Critics Award and a Crime Writers of Canada award. Her writing has been generously supported by Canada Council for the Arts, Bread Loaf, Monson Arts, and Banff Centre for the Creative Arts. Adrift can be ordered from our Edgemont Village independent bookstore prize sponsors, Kidsbooks  https://www.kidsbooks.ca/customer-service/kidsbooks-edgemont-village-store and 32 Books in Edgemont Village.https://www.32books.com/contact/
