In the Frame
When the art world’s egos collide, no frame can contain the fallout.
In the Frame is a mash-up of art world satire and workplace comedy. Set in a fictional public art gallery, the novel pivots around an important gala fundraiser. When it goes hilariously awry, the director, curators, and educators scramble to save their jobs and reputations.
George Caldwell, the ambitious director of the Toronto Art Gallery, has high hopes for the gala’s success, as he wants to build a new wing. His staff have other priorities: Rachel, a burned-out educator whose prickly boss has her contemplating an early departure from the gallery; Arthur, a mild-mannered curator who grapples with the unpredictable demands of an attractive donor; Amanda, another curator, who fends off incursions into her own turf by investigating questionable donor influence. When a rambunctious kids’ camp and a tour of art-loving naturists wander into the picture on the same night as the gala, chaos spreads. George and his staff must confront the turmoil and chart a path forward.
